Our Mission

At Moment of Change Counseling Services, PLLC, our mission is to provide high quality person centered services to members that promote long term recovery, wellness, and achievement of their desired personal goals. We work in partnership with community stakeholders, educating members on resources and services available to them to achieve their desired balanced lifestyle. Our team develops therapeutic relationships with members that foster personal growth and change by educating, supporting, advocating, and instilling hope in our members, promoting long term whole health and wellness as well as long-term recovery. 


Moment of Change Counseling Services is CARF Accredited and CABHA certified in the state of North Carolina.  Our agency also offers Licensed Independent Practioner counseling services in the state of Maryland. 


Moment of Change Counseling Services, PLLC utilizes a person-centered approach to our services, offering office, telehealth, and community-based services to support the diverse needs of families in our local community. We are passionate about member care and understand that each member has diverse needs, backgrounds, and cultures. Our team respects cultural diversity and encourage all members to express their specific unique needs and preferences when treatment planning.

Additional Information

Assessment and Referral

All new members interested in services must complete a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA) to determine your needs and eligibility for services. Once the assessment is complete, a recommendation will be discussed with the member about the most appropriate service to meet your wellness or recovery needs. Members approved to start a service participate in treatment planning during the assessment, identifying their personal goals for treatment. 

Outpatient Therapy (Individual, Group, Family)

 Outpatient therapy is led by a licensed counselor or therapist teaching treatment techniques that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behavior through person centered planning and therapeutic  interventions. 

Individual Transitional Support Services

 Individual Transitional Support is an in home and community based service offered to eligible adult beneficiaries diagnosed with a mental health or substance use disorder. Staff provide structured, scheduled services that support with acquiring, retaining and improving self-help, social and adaptive skills that support sustained independence.The intent of the service is to teach and assist individuals in carrying out Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), such as preparing meals, managing medicines, grocery shopping and managing money, so they can live independently in the community. 

Peer Support Services

Peer Support Services (PSS) are an evidenced-based mental health model of care that provides community-based recovery services directly to a Medicaid-eligible adult beneficiary diagnosed with a mental health or substance use disorder. PSS provides structured, scheduled services that promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, engagement in self-care and wellness and enhancement of community living skills of beneficiaries. Member's goals are person centered allowing the member to lead treatment and focus on areas that they deem important for their recovery. PSS services are directly provided by Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) who have self-identified as a person(s) in recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences. 

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

 PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems that decreases the frequency, severity, and duration of undesired behaviors. 

Intensive In Home (IIH)

Intensive in Home is a family therapy based model that provides one on one and family based interventions to support children, families, and natural supports in addressing presenting symptoms and behavioral needs that interfere with daily functioning in the home, school, and community setting. The IIH team members are trained to provide multiple interventions and supports that minimize crisis, address mental health and behavioral needs, and increase stabilization, decreasing the liklihood of out of home placement for youth. 

DWI Assessment and Short Term Treatment

Moment of Change is a Licensed DWI Provider in the state of NC. We can assist clients in completing assessments required to initiate the process in obtaining their license after an DWI incident. Assessments are only valid for 6 months and cost $100. As a DWI Provider, we must comply with the regulations mandated by NC DHHS DWI Services  and provide ample information, pricing, and details of available options for treatment to support members in obtaining their license. 

Other Fees Related to Treatment:  ADETS class: $160.00 ADETS Book:  $25 Book fee. 

Cost of Short or Long Term Treatment: Varies depending on the selected agencies fee schedule. Please contact our office for more information. 

Possible Treatment Recommendations after completion of of a DWI assessment

ADETS Classes- 16 contact hours over a minimum of 5 days

Short Term Treatment- Minimum of 20 contact hours over a minimum of 30 days

Long Term Treatment- Minimum of 40 contact hours over a minimum of 60 days

Intensive Outpatient Treatment – Minimum 90 hours over a minimum of 90 days



Substance Use Treatment Group Counseling

Moment of Change provides various options for Substance use Treatment Counseling sessions for members desiring support on their journey of recovery. Structured programs are faciliated on site by trained instructors.  Our SAIOP (9 Hours a week)  and SACOT (20 hours a week)  group treatment programs support abstinence, increased life skills, improvement in health and psychosocial function, and relapse reduction. Moment of Change collaborates with all team members involved in the member's course of treatment to support in their recovery goals. 

Additional Enhanced Services

Moment of Change Counseling Services, PLLC also offers enhanced community based treatment for both children and adults who need additional support using Team based approaches offering more enhanced structured treatment at a greater frequency as well as providing crisis intervention and support 24/7. These services require medical neccesity and approval  with regular treatment planning and collaboration with all stakeholders involved to obtain the best outcome. Please contact our office to inquire of various treatment options for Children or Adults experiencing moderate to severe mental health or substance use symptoms. A member of our team will assist you in learning of appropriate options to assist you. 


Community Support Team (CST)

CST is a team based adult services program offering treatment, coordination, and case managment to assist member's with presenting mental health symptoms address barriers to stabilization and long term recovery. Licensed Clincians, Peer Support Specialists, and trained professionals provide multiple hours of support and interventions to address treatment goal areas. 


Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)

PSR is an adult day program that supports members in addressing a variety of wellness and stablization goals that will support long term independence, employment, socialization, and self management. Skill building interventions take place at our licensed facility Monday through Friday from 9am-2pm daily. 

Linkage and Coordination

Our team works closely with community resources and alternate providers ensuring that our members are linked and referred to appropriate services and resources promoting their overall wellness and recovery. We coordinate as needed with important stakeholders involved in your overall care to support you in applying and obtaining basic resources to address your needs such as, obtained medical and dental treatment, obtaining food resources, housing, toiletries, and utility assisstance based on availability of resources with partnering networks. 

Insurance Accepted

 Moment of Change currently accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Aetna Commercial, and Self Pay. We provide community based treatment and telehealth treatment across the state of NC and MD with staff assigned to specific counties. Please feel free to contact us for any questions about your insurance.
